USY Gesher

ABOUT USY Gesher

USY Gesher (formerly Kadima) is USY's, USCJ"s youth movement, program for pre-teens. To many Jewish middle school aged kids, however, it means so much more. Kids in USY Gesher gain a foundation in the basics of Jewish life and are given the chance to make lots of Jewish friends. USY Gesher is a lot like USY, but for middle school students. Most USY Chapters also have USY Gesher programs similar to those of their USY chapters. Also, each year there is a regional convention just for USY Gesher. USY Gesheris a great chance for young Jewish kids to learn about Judaism, but it is also a great place to have a good time and make new friends.

Between Hebrew school and bar/bat mitzvah lessons, it’s easy to stay connected to Jewish life. But what happens next?

USY Gesher, USY’s program for pre-teens. USY Gesher is for middle-schoolers with programming closely tied to USY, including recreational activities, holiday celebrations, leadership development, weekend retreats, community service projects and more.
USY Gesher offers pre-teens grades 6-8 (5th grade invited in the spring) the opportunity to:
  • Meet new people and have fun
  • Stay engaged in Jewish life and learning once Hebrew school is over
  • Experience the joy of Judaism
  • Develop leadership and social skills
Activities include:
  • Events such as bowling or craft nights
  • Jewish holiday celebrations
  • Community service projects
