LTI

LTI, or Leadership Training Institute, is our first convention every year. All of the leaders in Emtza (board members, convention chairpeople, and emtza leaders) come together for a weekend of learning, meeting other leaders, and planning for the rest of the year.

We are so excited to be returning to the Sunstream Retreat Center for our first convention back together in-person! Join us for a weekend full of fun programming, throwbacks, food, friends and more!
  • Kinnus is an Annual Fall Tradition for teens in EMTZA Region
  • This year, we are including 8th Graders, so all Jewish teens 8th - 12th grade are welcome to attend our Kinnus + 8th Grade Shabbaton.
  • The weekend will be fully staffed (1:8 ratio) by USY including your synagogue advisors.
  • We will observe Shabbat, eat delicious kosher food, learn USY traditions, and just have a great social weekend with camp friends, shul friends, and new friends
  • The cost is $325 for EARLY BIRD (now - October 31st)
  • Regular Pricing is $350 November 1-7th)which includes all meals, snacks, lodging, and programming.
  • Scholarships are available, please don't let cost stop your teen from attending. Scholarship forms are embedded in the registration and be sure to ask your local shul as well.

Winter Shabbaton

Winter Shabbaton is a convention in late January for our USYers. It rotates locations among chapters, where community members host the USYers for the weekend. Winter Shabbaton is a weekend of fun social programming, teen-led learning, singing, and so much more. This is a weekend that's not to be missed.

Gesher Kinnus

Gesher Kinnus (formerly known as Kadima Kinnus) is our convention for 5th-7th graders throughout the region. This convention, planned and led by our USYers, is also at Sunstream Retreat Center, and provides an opportunity for young teens from all around the midwest to make connections, form friendships, learn a little and have a great time.

Spring Kallah

Spring Kallah is one of the most important events for Emtza Region. At Spring Kallah, we elect our new regional executive board, thank our outgoing board, have a great time at Sunstream Retreat Center in Ogden, IA, and more. Spring Kallah is the first USY convention that 8th graders are invited to, and it's the weekend that we say farewell to our outgoing senior class.
