EMTZA is the midwestern region of United Synagogue Youth (USY), the youth organization of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. EMTZA region spans from Colorado to St. Louis and from Kansas City up to Minneapolis. EMTZA USY programs give Jewish teens a chance to learn and grow as a Jew and most of all to have fun with other Jews teens from around the midwest.
There are many chapters in all over EMTZA region. These chapters are based in synagogues and have frequent programming. Chapters often go on various outings to places in their local area as well as spend time hanging out and learning in the teen lounge in their synagogue. Check out the chapters section of the website to find a chapter near you.
Regional conventions take place less often but are loads of fun because teens from all over the region are able to come together. EMTZA offers five regional conventions that enables teens to come spend Shabbat together, learn and have tons of fun! Throughout the year in a variety of settings USY allows teens learn about Judaism and Israel, do social action projects, give tzedakah, and enjoy other social programming with their peers.
EMTZA Region USY is an inclusive Jewish organization that allows Midwestern teens to take pride in their Jewish identities by creating a strong community through a conservative Jewish lens.
We intend to accomplish these aims by:
- Fostering meaningful Jewish relationships
- Helping to strengthen the significance of prayers and Jewish text
- Promoting a passion for social activism and tikun olam
- Visiting and educating about Israel
